Montclair homes live in the trees. Up in the Oakland hills, that means shade, morning fog, and north-facing walls that stay damp long after the sun comes out. It also means decks, hillside lots, and access that takes planning. We paint here with all of that in mind.
What the hills do to paint
- Shaded, damp walls carry mildew pressure. They need a proper wash and the right prep before any paint goes on.
- South and west faces take the sun hard and fade or chalk faster than the shaded sides. Each elevation gets prepped for its own condition.
- Decks and rails weather year-round and usually need attention before the siding does.
- Steep lots call for careful staging, so ladders and scaffolds go up without wrecking your garden or your neighbor’s fence.
Montclair’s storybook cottages, mid-century homes, and wooded custom builds each ask for something different. We scope each home on its own, then put the plan in writing.
Color matters up here too. In filtered light under the trees, muted and deeper palettes read beautifully where a bright suburban scheme would look out of place. We’ll help you find the one that suits your home and its setting.
